On Sunday afternoon, a Gulfstream G200 executive jet, registration N318JF, crashed at La Romana International Airport, resulting in the deaths of both the pilot and co-pilot. The aircraft, operating a charter flight, had arrived from Puerto Rico and, after refueling, departed for Austin, Texas.

A few minutes after takeoff, while approximately 16 nautical miles southwest of the airport, the crew reported technical problems and requested an emergency return. During the return maneuver, the aircraft lost stability, went down, and crashed within the airport perimeter. The impact caused a fire, which was brought under control by firefighters and emergency personnel.
