Trump, Xi set for summit in US

Chinese President Xi Jinping is paying a state visit to the US. He will be meeting President Donald Trump for their second summit this year, following Trump's visit to Beijing in May. Xi arrived on Wednesday at a military base near Washington.

This is Xi's first visit to the US since 2023, when he attended the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in San Francisco. Economic and trade issues are expected to be high on the agenda. The conflict in Iran will be another topic. The US has been stepping up pressure on Tehran with economic sanctions.
