Brazil's Lula warns of UN credibility crisis, urges multilateralism

During the 81st United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated that the UN's credibility is at an all-time low due to its failure to stop major wars and protect vulnerable populations.

Calling the current situation around the world, Lula said geopolitical tensions threaten to transform regional conflicts into "a conflagration of global proportions." He also called for strengthened international cooperation in fighting organized crime, addressing climate change and managing emerging technologies.
