




A tripartite work coordination meeting comprised of the government, employers, and employees was held via virtual platform at the meeting room of the Ministry of Labour on 11th December.
The meeting was attended by Union Minister U Myint Naing, Permanent Secretary, Directors-General, members of the Arbitration Council, representatives from both sides of employers, employees, and the representatives from the various industrial zones.
At the meeting, the Union Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring that factories and workplaces can operate smoothly, that workers do not face unemployment, that job opportunities are available, and that workers receive their wages on time. He also discussed resolving labor disputes in accordance with the law, addressing difficulties faced in workplaces, and achieving success through open discussions to find solutions.
The Union Minister pointed out that reducing or closing factories and workplaces could harm both the interests of employers and workers, and negatively affect the country’s production capacity, thereby impeding the economic development of the nation. He called for collaboration to improve workplace relationships through peaceful negotiations and legal means, ensuring that working conditions continue to improve.
Furthermore, the Director-General of the Department of Labour provided an update on the outcomes of a meeting held on August 23, 2024, explaining the actions taken since then. Representatives attending online from the Arbitration Council, employers, workers, and industrial zones discussed the challenges they are facing and presented the necessary solutions. The Director-General clarified the points discussed.
In conclusion, the Union Minister assured that necessary actions would be taken to address the difficulties faced by the government, employers, and workers. Everyone was encouraged to collaborate in overcoming these challenges to improve the country’s production capacity.
