Tree Planting Ceremony: 675 saplings planted in Magway Region

On the morning of 18 June, Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin attended Monsoon Tree Planting Ceremony in commemoration of “The World Day to combat Desertification and Drought”, which falls on 17th June.

The Event took place at the Greening Complex Zone Area, located near Mile post No. (375/3) on the Ye Nan Chaung Township, under the Dry Zone Greening Department. Chief Minister U Tint Lwin and officials collectively planted trees and toured the area to encourage the ongoing tree planting activities by the attendees.

June 17 was designated as “The World Day to combat Desertification and Drought” to mark the adoption of Desertification Combat Convention, and it has since been recognized annually on that date. The commemoration of “The World Day to combat Desertification and Drought” along with the tree plantation ceremony was held for the first time in Magway Region in 2024. In this year, a total of (675) saplings from 6 different species were planted.
