Traditional Boat Race 2022: Yangon Region Team Grabs Men & Women Championships

The states and regions traditional boat race 2022 held its final events and awarding ceremony in Inya Lake in Yangon, Tuesday.

A total of 355 athletes from 13 male teams and 9 female teams from regions and states participated in the traditional boat race. Yangon Region team grabbed Men and Women Championship trophies along with 7 golds and 3 silvers. 

Coach, Yangon Region Rowing Team, Maung Maung Lwin said “Our team won 4 gold and 1 silver in 500-m boat race event and 3 gold and 2 silvers in 200-m event, altogether 7 golds and 3 silvers. We also won men and women champion awards. We got training time for 4 weeks. In the first week, we trained techniques and stamina for the athletes. In the 2nd two weeks, we gave interval training for their endurance. In the final week, we trained them for the competition.”

The boat-race was held for two days with the aim for promoting health and fitness of the nation, friendship and unity among the national people and turning out more outstanding athletes.

Coach, Yangon Region Rowing Team, Maung Maung Lwin said “This year competition is the highest achievement for Yangon Region Team. I'm very satisfied with my work for nurturing the outstanding athletes who can honour for the state. I will nurture and train new generation athletes for the nation in the future.” 

At the event, officials also presented 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes to respective winning teams of Men 7 and 10 paddle 200/500-m events, Women 7 and 10 paddle events and Mix 10 paddle 200/500-m event.
