Tourism Sector :UM Addresses Basic Russian Language Course (Batch 4)

With the aims of developing human resources in Myanmar’s hotel and tourism sector, enhancing bilateral cultural exchange between Myanmar and Russia, and providing comprehensive and quality services to Russian tourists visiting Myanmar, the opening ceremony of the Basic Russian Language Course (Batch 4) was held on July 30 in Nay Pyi Taw.

Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism and Culture U Maung Myint attended the ceremony and delivered the opening speech. In his speech, the Union Minister stated that the training course is an important step not only for human resource development within the hotel and tourism sector, but also for bilateral cultural exchange between Myanmar and the Russian Federation.

He added that in the current era, Myanmar-Russia relations have grown stronger through multifaceted cooperation starting at the state level. In line with this, efforts are directed toward boosting the bilateral tourism sector and encouraging more Russian tourists to visit Myanmar.

To ensure efficient, high-quality services are provided to Russian visitors upon arrival, the Ministry has been continuously organizing Russian language courses in Myanmar's major tourist destinations. He further highlighted that offering these basic Russian language courses enables participants to learn about Russian traditional culture and customs.

He urged the trainees to use the language skills acquired to promote the nation’s history and cultural image, and to actively contribute as language-proficient staff toward national development within the hotel and tourism sphere. Following the Union Minister's address, the Chairman of the Myanmar-Russia Friendship Association explained and discussed details regarding the course. A total of 34 trainees from hotels in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area are attending this 4-week Basic Russian Language Course (Batch 4).
