Tourism Sector: Tourism Research Center Project & Data Research Training

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr. Htay Aung attended opening of the virtual ‘Tourism Research Center Project and Data Research’ training on Thursday.

The opening ceremony at the Ministry was also attended Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Chen Hai and many other officials. In his address to the training opening, the Union Minister said that to establish the Tourism Research Center is one of the 21 projects to be implemented in Myanmar under the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2021).

Tourism sector plays an important role for developing countries. He also highlighted the ministry’s efforts for reviving the tourism industry impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. The ‘Tourism Research Center Project and Data Research can bring benefits to the country’s tourism sector development, he added.

The Union Minister also expressed words of thanks to the Chinese Government for providing assistance to the training. Also, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Chen Hai and U Win Zeyar Tun from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in his capacity as the Vice-chair of Mekong-Lancang National Coordination Unit (Myanmar) stressed importance of tourism sector and establishment of the Tourism Research Center, further cooperation between Myanmar and China and Mekong-Lancang Cooperation.

Objective of the establishment of the Tourism Research Center, plans and outcome were also explained. This training is joined by 50 trainees. It’s learnt that Tourism Research Center Project is set for one year from 2022 January to 2023 March. The Center and Research Team will be established at the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.
