Tour in Shan State: Taunggyi Buddhist University and Pang Pet Steel Mill

Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than visited Buddhist University in Taunggyi on September 2nd.

During his visit, he paid homage to the Oxford Sayadaw and made offerings. He also planted Star Flower saplings in the university compound and took a tour of the library.

In the afternoon, the Union Minister visited No.2 Steel Mill (Pang Pet) and met with the staff. He encouraged them to strive for the success of the project and emphasized the importance of continuous learning for capacity building.

The officials presented reports on completed works and future plans. The Union Minister gave instructions regarding worksite safety and the maintenance of product quality. On the following day, a monsoon tree planting ceremony took place in the compound of the steel mill.

The Union Minister, along with officials, planted teak saplings and supervised the staff as they collectively planted 500 saplings. Then, the Union Minister held a meeting with officials to discuss plans for repairing machine parts in each workshop. Afterwards, they toured the Oxygen Plant, Foundry, and Waste to Energy Power Plant.
