Thailand's Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O-Cha cast his vote in the general election on Sunday. Voting began at 8:00 am at the 95,000 polling stations. Prayut called for all Thai people to "use their rights' to vote after casting his ballot in election.
The new premier will be chosen jointly by the 500 elected MPs and 250 senate members. Meanwhile, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, candidate of the main opposition Pheu Thai party and daughter of billionaire ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra, casts her vote in Thailand's general election.
The main opposition Pheu Thai party was ahead in final opinion polls. A turnout of 90 percent in last Sunday’s early round of voting points to an electorate looking for change, but the opposition faces an uphill battle to secure power.
