Thailand's Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul signed a measure officially dropping cannabis completely from his ministry's list of controlled drugs on Tuesday, an action that takes the Southeast Asia nation much of the way towards decriminalizing marijuana.
The measure, which will take effect 120 days after its publication in the government gazette, means all parts of cannabis, including flowers and seeds, are allowed to be used in Thailand.  The stated intention of the measure is to promote the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes and build an industry around such products.  In 2020,  Thailand became the first Asian nation to allow the production and use of cannabis for medicinal purposes, under tight controls.
