Terrorist Acts: Explosions in Kawkareik and Kyaikhto

Armed terrorist groups are recklessly carrying out violent attacks in towns, and villages where civilians reside, engaging in battles and launching attacks using heavy weapons, short-range missiles, and drop bombs without any consideration for humanity.

On 12th June, an armed terrorist group (under verification) fired a heavy weapon shell targeting the public area at around 5:30 PM in Kawt Baw Village, Kawkareik Township, Kayin State. It was exploded near the house, where funeral service is being conducted. T

hree villagers including a 4-year old girl were killed on the spot while three others were passed away on the way to hospital due to their injuries. Likewise, four civilians injured due to a mine explosion in Kyaikto Township. The explosion was occurred between mile post 3 furlong and 4 furlong of 102 mile along Yangon-Mawlamyine Highway near Bite Kar Village.

The attack was initiated by KNU and PDF terrorist groups. Due to the incident, the Toyota Wish Vehicle with 4 civilian on board was severly damaged and caused injuries. They are now receiving treatment at Kyaikto People’s Hospital. Members of security forces are conducting necessary security operations to expose the terrorists and take actions against them in accordance with the existing laws.
