Strengthening Cooperation: MOIP Union Minister meets with UN delegation

Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing received a delegation led by Ms. Gwyn Lewis, United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator a.i. in Myanmar on 29 May.

During the meeting, they cordially discussed matters on facilitating a smooth visa and immigration process, bilateral cooperation between Myanmar and Bangladesh for repatriation of displaced persons from Rakhine State and implementation of these process through MOU between the ministry, UNDP and UNHCR.

The discussion also focused on permission for temporary accommodation arrangements of United Nations staff stationed in the Maungdaw area, and returning to the station once the stability restored. The meeting also highlighted for reporting Myanmar’s current accurate news to UN Headquarters and future cooperation between the ministry and UN organizations.
