State Visit to China : President and delegation arrived at Beijing

The high-level delegation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, led by President U Min Aung Hlaing, departed Monday morning from the Tatmadaw Airport in Nay Pyi Taw on a special aircraft for a State Visit to the People’s Republic of China, following an invitation from Chinese President Mr. Xi Jinping.

The delegation was seen off at the airport by Vice President U Nyo Saw, Vice President Daw Nann Ni Ni Aye, Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker U Aung Lin Dwe, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo, Union ministers, the Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, the Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, as well as officials from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese Military Attaché Office in Myanmar.

Accompanying the President are Union ministers including U Khin Maung Yi, U Tin Maung Swe, Dr. Kan Zaw, U Ko Ko Lwin, Dr. Charlie Than, and U Tun Ohn, along with Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan, Shan State Chief Minister U Sai Htein Soe, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, deputy ministers, and other officials.

Later, the special aircraft carrying the delegation led by the President arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport at around 2:00 p.m. local time. They were warmly welcomed by officials led by Mr. Liu Wei, Minister of Transport of the People’s Republic of China, along with government representatives, Myanmar Ambassador to China U Zaw Win Myint, Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy, Air) Brigadier General Zaw Zaw Naing, and other officials.

During the welcoming ceremony, members of the Chinese honor guard followed traditional protocol for State Visits, standing at attention on both sides of the red carpet to honor the visiting head of state. A Chinese child and a Myanmar child presented a bouquet of flowers to the visiting delegation as a gesture of welcome.

Afterwards, the motorcade carrying the President proceeded to the Diaoyutai State Guest House. Along the route, both countries’ national flags were displayed, and warm welcoming arrangements were observed.

During the visit, the President is expected to hold talks with the President of China, conduct bilateral discussions, meet with the Chinese Premier and the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, as well as receive and meet provincial leaders and representatives of business organizations. He will also attend an economic conference and visit high-tech industrial facilities. The visit aims to further strengthen the long-standing “pauk-phaw” (fraternal) relations between Myanmar and China, and to enhance cooperation between the two governments and peoples in areas including the economy, security, and other sectors through open and friendly exchanges of views.
