Spreading Disinformation: Clarification on false news circulations on social media

It is found that misinformation have been spreading on social media platforms, alleging that a total of 107 Muslim men, aged between 18 and 35 from Kyauk Ta Lone rehabilitation camp in Kyauk Phyu Township of Rakhine State, were abducted by security forces from Kyauk Phyu based No.(542) Infantry.

In response to this fake news, a security official from Kyauk Phyu Township refuted the allegations, asserting that this news is fabricated leading to misunderstandings.

Similarly, one of the illegal destructive media outlets, Khit Thit Media, is deliberately spreading misinformation through the social media platforms, alleging that, security forces are persuading the people in Nay Pyi Taw and Mandalay Region to serve military duties while accelerating the census scrutinizing.

The destructive media channels are making propagations, while efforts are being made by the respective departments for the people to understand the People’s Military Service Law. To gain a clear understanding of the law, the public is advised to contact the Central Body for Summoning People’s Military Servants. The contact numbers are being disseminated through state-owned media channels.
