Special Economic Zone: Central Body held its meeting in Nay Pyi Taw

Myanmar Special Economic Zone Central Body held its meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.

Chairman of the Central Body Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win addressed at the meeting, saying that the State Administration Council is implementing for economic development of the nation by laying down the economic objectives, and the Special Economic Zones are needed to perform their work process in line with these objectives.

He stressed the need to strive for achieving more investments in order to promote production of value-added export items. Thilawa SEZ has over 13 million US dollars import volume with more than 52 million export volume in March this year.

In order to narrow down the gap of export and import, the Vice Senior General urged all to facilitate necessities for promoting exports. He also instructed the need to prioritize for long term development of the Special Economic Zones.

The meeting discussed the work implementation on the previous meeting minute and efforts for the succcess of the Special Economic Zones. The meeting also sought for approval ont the reports to be presented by the Secretary of the Central Body, and Chairmen of the Management Committees of the Thilawa, Kyaukphyu and Dawei Sepcial Economic ZOnes.
