Some virus restrictions to be lifted in Shanghai

Shanghai authorities said the city will enter a "comprehensive restoring" phase from Wednesday after a two-month lockdown that has throttled the economy and kept millions of people largely restricted to their homes.

Full bus and subway services will be restored, as will basic rail connections with the rest of China Shopping malls, supermarkets, convenience stores and drug stores will gradually open with no more than 70% of their total capacity, but cinemas and gyms will not resume operation, according to an online government news conference on Tuesday.

According to the rules for the new stage, no restrictions will be put on residents and villagers entering or leaving residential compounds and villages except for those in middle and high risk areas, and areas put under COVID-19 management.
