Social Security Program: Providing health care services to insured workers

The social security scheme is aimed to protect suffering from economic and social problems of insured workers and their families who depend on them due to their low income, illness, delivery, getting injuries and death at the work sites.
100-bed Workers’ hospital in Htantabin Township is providing health care services to insured workers who are covered by social security.
Dr Aung Naing, Medical Superintendent, Htantabin Workers’ Hospital said “In 2001, it was opened as a Tuberculosis Hospital and then it was changed to a general hospital in February in 2016. The aim of our hospital is to give full capacity of labour strength while upgrading health care services of insured workers, to assist development of national interest and increasing productivity and to be able to work insured workers with peace of mind. Since 1st September 2020, we have given treatment to covid-19 patients.”

As the hospital is giving treatment to social security insured workers, the social security clinic and the clinics that are joint venture with social security board can transfer insured workers who are infected with covid-19 to the hospital with patient referral, the Medical Superintendent said.

Patient said “I am a social security worker in Hlaing Thaya Township. We have not paid medical fee here and they give tonic to me. I have already injected COVID-19 vaccine for two times. I’d like to thanks concerned officials for giving treatment free of change.”

Patient said “I have checked X-ray examination because I needed medical attention. I was also hospitalized. There is no cost for me because I am a social security worker. I’d would like to express thanks because I receive medical treatment with free of charge at the hospital.”

Htantabin Workers’ hospital is giving medical treatment to workers who pay for social security fee in the factories and workshops in Hlaing Thaya township and in Shwe Pyitha, Shwe Lin Pan, Mingaladon and Mya Sein Yaung industrial zones.
