The Social Security Board under the Ministry of Labour, held a coordination meeting at the ministry’s temporary meeting hall in Nay Pyi Taw on May 27, to discuss the online payment disbursement of natural disaster relief benefits (40% family support) and educational grants for the children of insured workers affected by the Mandalay earthquake, including those in six Regions and States and the Union Territory (Nay Pyi Taw) in line with the guidance of the Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister.
Union Minister for Labour U Chit Swe delivered the opening speech. He emphasized that the goal is to ensure that both the 40% family support compensation for natural disaster victims and educational support allowances can be effectively transferred to insured workers and their families through online payment systems such as KBZ Pay, AYA Pay, Wave Pay, UAB Pay, and Mytel Pay. He further explained that unused surplus funds from the Social Security Board have been deposited with Myanma Economic Bank and, under the Central Bank of Myanmar’s online payment system, can be transferred to private banks for disbursement to beneficiaries in a secure, accurate, and timely manner.
The Union Minister also called for collective discussion and support to facilitate this process. He encouraged representatives of the Social Security Board and Regions and States officials, who were attending the meeting online, to also raise any challenges encountered during data collection. Following the opening remarks, the Deputy Minister and attending representatives participated in discussions in line with the agenda.
