




Social Security Board under the Ministry of Labour on May 22nd held a meeting at the temporary meeting hall of the ministry in Nay Pyi Taw with the attendance of Union Minister U Chit Swe together with Deputy Minister U Win Shein and concerned officials.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister in his capacity as the Chairman of the Social Security Board stated the implementation of social welfare services for security and safety of insured workers in accordance with Social Security Law.
At present, Social Security Project was expanded to over 120 townships, covering more than 1.29 million insured workers for health care services and financial benefits. He added that the Social Security Board is striving to provide better services to the public through modern techniques in collaboration with International and ASEAN communities to be in line with the five characteristics of Good Governance.
In addition, health care services are being provided at private hospitals and clinics under contract through Provider Purchaser Split system. To reduce the costs of health care services, costs for medical procedures and surgeries have been refunded to insured workers in keeping with the times.
Under the guidance of the State Administration Council, the meeting approved for provision of 40 percent benefit to the insured families and stipend to the students from basic education schools and university and college students in 6 earthquake affected regions and states.
The MoU on cooperation with Malaysian Social Security Organization regarding social protection of Myanmar migrant workers abroad has also been renewed to ensure that Myanmar migrant workers insured in Malaysia receive social security benefits for work-related injuries in a timely manner. Then, the attendees cordially discussed current and future social security matters for the benefits of insured workers.
