Slight Damages: Religious buildings in Bagan slightly damaged by cyclone

Due to the intensity of the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “MOCHA” on the Bay of Bengal, the tide surging, strong winds blowing, heavy rains and flash floods occurred.

The incident caused inflow of water at about 5-ft into Mann Set Tawya Pagoda (Lower Golden Foot Print) in Minbu Township of Mandalay region because of surging Mann creek water level, collapse of the brick plinth of Dhamma Yazaka pagoda in Bagan, breaking the eastern arch of Htilo Minlo pagoda, brick wall of Thatbyinnyu temple and falling the umbrella of Shwebone Tha pagoda.

The concerned officials are undertaking necessary arrangements to renovate the damaged religious buildings and pagodas hit by the cyclone. It has been reported that the water has receded at Mann Shwe Setawra Pagoda (Lower Golden Foot Print).
