Both South Korea and Japan on Sunday stressed the intention to boost relations as their leaders met for the second time in less than two months.
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida arrived in South Korea earlier on Sunday for a two-day visit, which reciprocates a mid-March trip to Tokyo by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol. During talks between the pair, Kishida said he wished to discuss "advancing bilateral relations" between both nations. Yoon said cooperation between Seoul and Tokyo was essential considering “the grave international situation.”
The exchange between the leaders of the Asian neighbours, the first of its kind in 12 years, signals that both nations are serious about strengthening ties in the face of shared regional challenges.
