Maldives to set up permanent human trafficking victim support center

Maldives Ministry of Homeland Security on Sunday announced a facility to address migrant exploitation and improve protection for survivors by upgrading support systems. Officials noted that past reliance on temporary facilities in places faced logistical hurdles, prompting ongoing efforts to establish structured and permanent assistance.

They also stressed the importance of building systems that allow cases to proceed on alternative evidence even when victims decline to give statements.
