Situation of flooding: Flooding in some villages and Townships occurred

Due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi and the storm in the Bay of Bengal, consecutive rainfall has caused the surge of rivers and creeks, inundating some wards, villages and Townships across the country recently.

In the Lewe District, water from the Sit-Taung River has inundated several villages. Efforts are being made to move people and animals to safer places, such as relatives' homes in nearby villages, as well as various monasteries and schools. Assistance is being provided where needed.In Lewe, health personnel have been providing healthcare services.

In the Kayin State, Kama Maung Town in Pha-Pon District, continuous rain has caused the Thanlwin River to rise. This has resulted in the third instance of flooding in low-lying areas and residential homes in the Kama Maung town area.Due to the flooding, river water has entered some residential homes and primary schools, causing some schools to close temporarily, as reported by the District Education Office.

In Kyaukse Township of Mandalay Region, heavy rain on September 10 has caused the Zawgyi River to rise. In the morning on the Wednesday, the Kyaukse District Disaster Management Team was working to prevent flooding in the Kyet Min Tonn neighborhood by placing sandbags.

In Magway Region, Myothit Township, continuous rain since early September has caused water to overflow from the Sandan, Sunn, and Palin reservoirs. Although this has led to some flooding, the structures of the reservoirs are robust, and there is no immediate concern. The township's river and water management office, Township Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Departmentis also actively issuing timely warnings and taking measures to ensure the safety of residents in the lower river areas.
