In order to reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19 epidemic, Shanghai Fire Brigade has been taking part as volunteers in the disinfection for COVID-related areas and buildings under closed-loop management since March. Nucleic acid sampling was being conducted in a residential community in Pudong New Area.

According to the on-site progress, firefighters disinfected the buildings that have completed COVID test sampling. The focus of disinfection was places where people are likely to gather, including elevators, stairwells and public walkways. In addition, firefighters also threw sterilization pills into sewers, trash cans and other places where waste water and solid waste were concentrated. Since April 8, Pudong Fire Brigade and Special Service Detachment have jointly set up an anti-epidemic volunteer team, which consisted of 61 members, to carry out disinfection work in 5 groups.
