




The Seed Fair 2022 is being organized by the Department of Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation at the Institute of Agriculture in Pyinmana Township, Nay Pyi Taw.
The Seed Fair 2022 is being held aiming to develop the use of quality seeds and provide the socio-economic status of the country with a high production rate using quality seeds.
U Thiha Tun, Director, Seeds Division, Agriculture Department said “This seed fair is organized with four objectives. The main objective is to bridge between the seed producers and farmers. This fair is the fourth edition and we held it in 2018, 2019 and 2020. It was skipped in 2021 due to the COVID-19 restrictions. During the fair, five companies exhibit plantations of 40 species of crops and 65 sub species on 6 acres. Totaling 33 booths of 20 companies and 3 departments are being displayed in the exhibition hall. Moreover, home gardening models and vegetable plantations are being displayed.”
The fair featured 35 exhibitions displayed by the Myanmar Seed Association and seed companies, including grains, legumes, oilseeds and vegetables and fruit seeds, and seedlings, produced from the research farms, pure breeding grounds, and private galleries and plantations.
Khun Moe Li, Corn seeds distributor said “Our company bases in Taunggyi and hybrid corn seeds are being distributed. Our corn seeds are most grown in the southern Shan State. Our seeds also extend to the regions outside Shan State. Our seeds’ high yielding rate and color attracted the farmers to grow.”
The Seed Fair 2022 has been holding for five days from 18 to 22 February and the farmers will have a chance to study the seeds that conform to their farmlands and grab agricultural knowledge.
