Seed Committee meeting: National Seed Committee held its 30th meeting

The 30th meeting of the National Seed Committee was held at the meeting hall of the Union Minister’s Office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation in Nay Pyi Taw on April 29. The meeting was attended by the committee's Chairman, Deputy Minister Dr. Tin Htut, along with committee members, leaders of crop expertise task forces, and expert personnel. 

During the meeting, discussions and reviews were conducted on eight crop varieties proposed for certification renewal and 57 new candidate varieties, including 12 agricultural crops, one industrial crop, 31 horticultural crops, and five parental lines. These submissions were presented by the respective crop expertise task forces and the Seed Technical Committee after thorough evaluation. 

It was reported that, up to the 29th meeting, the National Seed Committee has issued certifications for a total of 1,983 new and elite varieties. These include 711 agricultural crops, 907 horticultural crops, 131 industrial crops, and 234 parental lines.
