










2nd Day of Science Festival 2023 organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and ROSATOM continued at the Technological University (Yangon) and Nuclear Technology Information Centre in Yangon on Thursday.
Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, Deputy Minister Dr Aung Zeya and officials, as well as the officials from ROSATOM and National Research Nuclear University (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute) of Russia, observed the event.
At the Technological University (Yangon), the Union Minister and party viewed the HackAtom Competition. Students from 11 teams made presentations on raising public awareness on the peaceful use of nuclear technology including electric power and nuclear medicine.
The participants have to develop the Application and Website for the competition within 24-hour time frame. Upon the presentations, the board of jury conducted by the professors from the Ministry of Science and Technology, National Research Nuclear University (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute) made assessments.
Deputy Minister Dr Aung Zeya and Director of ROSATOM International Cooperation Department Mr. Andrey Belyakov presented awards to the three winning teams.
About 500 students from the Basic Education High Schools, Technological Universities and Universities of Computer Studies in Yangon joined the HackAtom Competition. They also observed the Research and Practical booths of Technological University (Yangon) and the seminar on nuclear technology.
The topics titled “Overview on the Nuclear Industry Development in Myanmar” by Atomic Energy Department, “Nuclear Energy Development from Antiquity to the Present Days” by a Russian Nuclear expert and “Low-carbon Energy Source” by pre-graduate student of Technological University (Yangon) were discussed at the seminar.
Then, the Union Minister and party viewed the students observing the Science Festival 2023. About 400 students visited the 2nd day festival, and they observed the Nuclear Sprint Zone, Chronograph Zone and Jenga in Physics Zone. They also took part in the Master Class practical training. Moreover, they participated in the Quiz Games on the knowledge of nuclear and science.
