School for CWD (Nay Pyi Taw) :School for Children with Disabilities (Nay Pyi Taw) opened

As part of a school-based care programme aimed at promoting the development of persons with disabilities, the opening ceremony of the School for Children with Disabilities (Nay Pyi Taw) was held on 27 July at the school located in Zawana Dipa Ward, Ottarathiri Township, Union Territory, Nay Pyi Taw.

At the ceremony, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win delivered the opening address. He stated that the School for Children with Disabilities (Nay Pyi Taw) will provide training and education for children with disabilities aged 6 to 18 years, focusing on the five key areas of development including physical, cognitive, language, emotional, and social development. The school will also provide training to help students develop Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills so that they can carry out daily tasks independently, as well as instruction through a Special Education system.

Following the ceremony, the Union Minister and officials toured the school to observe the learning activities and participation of the children with disabilities. They also presented gifts to the students, it’s reported.
