Safe Commuting: Highway Buses Arrange Systematic Measures To Combat COVID-19

Mandalay Region Highway Supervision Committee is facilitating the awareness of COVID-19 for the passengers.

After the declaration of COVID-19 as a Pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11th, the accelerated efforts will be made for preventive measures in the Region, the Acting Chief Minister said.

He added that public transportation sector also involved in the work process, and they are urged to take systematic action with health perception.

Acting Chief Minister, Mandalay Region, Zar Ni Aung said “Since the public transportation facilities including the Air-conditioned buses are easy to get infection, we targeted this sector to promote the awareness. All the undertakings will have to be carried out by the Department of Health and related Government Departments through collaborative efforts.”

It is also learnt that screening of body temperature will be conducted to the travelers soon.

The Chairman of Mandalay Region Highway Supervision Committee also said all the necessary procedures have been arranged for safety of the commuters.

Chairman, Mandalay Region Highway Supervision Committee, Aung Kyaw Lin said “We provide CD chips to every buses. Before starting their travelling, the conductors are urged to read out the health notice. We also share the pamphlets and hand sanitizer. If there something happened on the way, the masks are ready and we will drive through to the nearest hospitals. We have already arranged these procedures, and asked all the staff to follow it.”

About 10000 commuters are taking highway buses from Mandalay to other States and Regions, according to the Mandalay Region Highway Supervision Committee.
