The Yangon Region Public Transport Committee has installed the telematics devices on the YBS buses to prevent them from operating over their designated routes.
The buses have been monitored from the Yangon Bus Operator Control Center through the installed devices.
Over 3,000 buses from 115 YBS bus lines are running in Yangon Region, and approximately 800,000 passengers are using the bus services every day.
Joint Secretary, Yangon Region Public Transport Committee, Lian Cin Mang said "Telematics devices are installed on the YBS buses. From the Yangon Bus Operator (YBO) control center, we can identify if the buses are running in Yangon or if they are in restricted area. Whenever they cross the border, we will notify the Yangon Regional Government and take certain actions such as discharging them from the company or revoking their driver’s license. We can also identify if the buses are running in the designated route or if a driver is driving over the speed limit, driving in incorrect route or driving roughly from the YBO Control Center."
Since the aim and objective of YRTC is to provide safe and reliable transportation service to the public, the committee is training the drivers to provide good service to the passengers, so that they can ride peacefully and arrive to their destinations safely.
Joint Secretary, Yangon Region Public Transport Committee, Lian Cin Mang said"At certain times, the bus stops can be overcrowded. We assign 2 of our staffs each at 6 of the most overcrowded areas; which are Sule, Pansodan, Myay Ni Gone, Hledan, 8-mile and Insein. The assigned staffs will report and notify the bus lines to send in more buses if the bus stops are overcrowded. We have also already notified the Bus lines to send in the buses frequently at office commuting hours."
It is learnt that more YBS buses will be running in the future in accordance with the people’s needs.
