Rural Development: New Road opened in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area

Hailing the 76th anniversary Union Day, a new concrete road was opened in Min Kone Village of Ottarathiri Township on Saturday.

Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe gave a speech at the ceremony, saying that the Ministry is cooperating with the concerned officials for development of rural road network. A strategic plan and investment plan for rural road development (2017-2030) was drafted for emergence of a rural road network that meets the set standard, and can withstand the natural disaster.

At present, the Rural Road Development Department under the Ministry is taking responsibilities to build over 35,000 miles rural road in more than 63,000 villages. Among these roads, 50% of them can be used in all weathers and 36% in the dry season while 14% was built in the villages where there is no road at all.

In Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, constructions have been underway for 13 miles long rural road, and 41 brides by spending over 5.6 billion kyats from the budget allotment of Union Fund and Nay Pyi Taw Council Fund during 2022-2023 fiscal year.

The newly opened concrete bridge is 7 furlongs long and 12 ft wide, and it was upgraded from the earthen road to the concrete facility.  Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Tin Oo Lwin also expressed his recognition for the efforts of the concerned personnel and local residents for time completion of the construction works. The Union Minister and officials later formally opened the new road, and inspected it.
