Rubio meets Chilean counterpart and comments on Balogun red card overturn

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met and shook hands with Chilean Foreign Minister Francisco Perez Mackenna at the State Department in Washington DC. Rubio also answers a question from a journalist on the lifting of the red card imposed on Folarin Balogun. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said it was “a right decision to reverse” the red card ban on U.S. forward Folarin Balogun.

The American striker received a suspension during the States' round-of-32 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina. US media reported that the red card kicked off multiple days of lobbying by the Trump administration aimed at getting the decision overturned.
