


The routine vaccination and immunization program has resumed for infants in Latha Township, Yangon West District starting 1st June.
The program has been conducted monthly before and it was temporarily suspended because of COVID-19 disease. Starting 1st June, the program has been re-operated in line with the instructions of the Ministry of Health and Sports.
Staff Officer, Latha Township Health Department, Dr. Myo Ko Ko said “The program has been suspended temporarily since April and now, it has been resumed on 1st June. We inject BCG vaccine to the infants after giving birth as well as whopping, tetanus, hepatitis B and polio vaccines are given to the age of 2, 4 and 6 month infants. Rotavirus vaccines have given to 2 and 4-months and measles and rubella vaccines to the infants at the age of 9-month for the first time and 1 and half years for the second time.”
The township health officer added that in conducting vaccination, the health staffs and parents have to follow the instructions. Before the vaccination and immunization, the health staffs wash their hands and the parents and infants have to conduct temperature screening and social distancing.
