

Road Safety Workshop No. (5) for YBS drivers was held by the Yangon Region Public Transport Committee (YRTC) in Yangon on 19th May.
At the workshop, U Chit Ko Ko, the vice chairman of YRTC gave an opening speech to the drivers in attendance.
After that, the Myanmar Organization for Road Safety (MORS) started to give training, followed up by the Road Transport Administration Department (RTAD) and Myanmar Traffic Police Force respectively.
Joint Secretary, Yangon Region Public Transport Committee, Lian Cin Mang said “The aim and objective of YRTC is to provide safe and reliable transportation service to the public. We are holding a workshop for the YBS drivers with the motive to improve their perception and attitude. The commuters are our benefactors. Without them, there can’t be any driver or even YRTC. Therefore, we are training the drivers to provide good serviceto the passengers, so that they can ride peacefully and arrive their destinations safely.”
It is learnt that there are about 4000 YBS drivers currently, and the committee will plan to include all of them in the workshops periodically.
Joint Secretary, Yangon Region Public Transport Committee, Lian Cin Mang said “In this workshop, Myanmar Organization for Road Safety (MORS) will give training to improve the attitude of the drivers and teach them how the international drivers behave. Next, the Road Transport Administration Department (RTAD) will give training about the traffic rules and regulations. Then, Myanmar Traffic Police Force will discuss about how they take action if there is an accident and about the criminal section.”
The Committee had held 4 workshops in 2021, and a total of 300 drivers had attended those workshops. In 2022, the fifth workshop was held on 19th May, and the sixth workshop will be held on 20th May. It is reported that 100 drivers will attend each day.
