






National Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities held its meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. Vice President Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye, in her capacity as the Chairperson of the National Committee attended the meeting and made a speech.
In her remarks, the Vice President said persons with disabilities are an important part of society and stressed the need to have equal rights and opportunities in education, healthcare, employment and transportation. She called for stronger implementation of laws and policies supporting persons with disabilities and urged relevant ministries and organizations to provide accessible public facilities in line with the Myanmar National Building Code.
She also highlighted the need to create suitable education and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities and to encourage their participation in business, community life, culture, sports and the arts. In the healthcare sector, she emphasized for persons with disabilities to receive priority medical services, including emergency care and necessary medical tests.
She also stressed the need to include their needs in disaster preparedness and response plans. The meeting reviewed ongoing activities to protect the rights of persons with disabilities and discussed future plans and recommendations. The Vice President gave further guidance and called for coordinated efforts to improve the lives and well-being of persons with disabilities.
