Resuming Operation: Some Hotels And Guest Houses In Bagan-Nyaung U Reopened

The Mandalay Region Government has allowed some hotels and guest houses to reopen in Bagan-Nyaung U of Mandalay Region and these hotels and guest houses suspended their operations to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

Led by the Public Health Department, officials from the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population and Myanmar Hotelier Association inspected the hotels and guest hotels to know whether they follow the COVID-19 related measures or not in line with 57 criteria to allow resume their operations.

Deputy Director, Department of Hotel and Tourism Administration, Win Aung said “After inspecting, we submitted to the regional government. Only when they get permission from the Regional government, the hotels and guesthouses are allowed to reopen. There are 21 hotels and guest houses that have been allowed to resume their operations. Currently, 8 hotels and guesthouses have sought permission to reopen.”

The hotels, models and guest houses that want to resume their operations need to follow exactly 57 criteria set by the Ministry of Health and Sports and to accept inspections of the relevant departments.

In-charge, Arthawka Hotel, Tin Tin Oo said “To resume the operation, we reported to the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism. In line with their instructions, we have opened our hotel again. We re-opened our hotel on 21st June and starting the operation day, there were about 35 guests.”

Manager, Shwe Na Di Guest House, Chan Tha said “To reopen our hotel, we reported to the relevant departments step by step. Before the operation, we made preparations for prevention from the COVID-19 disease in line with the Ministry of Health and Sports.”

Bagan-NyaungU region has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and always packed with the local and foreign visitors. The businesses in Bagan-Nyaung U region are arranging to provide better service after they have permitted to run their operation again.
