Reports on Key Activities: Myanmar National Human Rights Commission reappointed

The Myanmar National Human Rights Commission issued a statement on Friday. It stated the Commission Chairman and members were reappointed on July 31, 2025, under Order No. 11/2025 by the National Defence and Security Council.

The Commission, originally formed in 2011 and restructured under the 2014 Human Rights Law, continues its work promoting and protecting human rights in Myanmar.

From January to July 2025, the MNHRC conducted 4 public awareness talks reaching 610 people, and 35 training sessions for over 2,800 civil service trainees on human rights topics. For complaint handling, the commission received 159 complaints, held 29 investigation meetings, and inspected 24 facilities including prisons, police stations, and shelters. A total of 179 recommendations were sent to relevant departments. For legal support, the commission reviewed and gave feedback on 2 draft laws, and assisted in preparing national reports for international treaties such as CEDAW and CRC. It also translated and published key human rights conventions. Regarding the international engagement, the commission participated in 4 regional and international forums, and attended 6 workshops and discussions on human rights.

As for public communication, the commission regularly shared updates through state media, its website, and the Myanmar National Portal to inform the public about its activities. The MNHRC reaffirms its commitment to protect and promote human rights in line with national laws and international standards.
