Arili Village in the Arhavi district of Artvin, Türkiye, continues to preserve its rich cultural heritage through its traditional architecture and authentic atmosphere.

The village, where stone and wood harmoniously come together, is home to 15 officially registered civil architectural structures, making it one of the region’s most remarkable settlements. Formerly known as Papilat until the 1950s, the village stands out with its distinctive historical architecture.

In 2013, the Erzurum Regional Board for the Protection of Cultural Heritage registered 15 of its buildings, most of which are still in use today. Constructed using the “eye-fill” technique, these buildings were designed to suit the local climate and landscape.

While Artvin province has around 160 registered traditional houses, Arili is unique as the village with the highest number of protected structures. All 15 historical buildings in the village remain active parts of daily life—some have been converted into guesthouses or restaurants, while others are still inhabited by local residents.
