Grave of Iran's late supreme leader Ali Khamenei in Mashhad

The images and state television broadcasts from Iran show the final burial ceremonies and resting place of Iran's late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was laid to rest at the Imam Reza Shrine in his hometown of Mashhad. 

The burial brings an official close to a massive, weeklong national funeral procession that spanned several cities across Iran and Iraq. Khamenei was laid to rest in the Dar al-Dhikr prayer hall inside the Imam Reza Holy Shrine, which is widely considered the holiest site in Shia Islam within Iran. He is only the second Iranian ruler in modern history to be buried at this specific shrine.
