Regional tourism development: Magway Region Tourism Committee held meeting

Magway Region Tourism Committee meeting 1/2023 was held at Region Government Office on Tuesday with the attendance of Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin.

At the meeting, Magway Region Chief Minister said the extension of Hotel license will be carried out and the development of the tourism sector in region will be implemented. During 2022, the number of hotels in the region was increased and also the arrival of the number of local and foreign visitors was increased. The seasonal festivals and MSME exhibitions and fairs were also conducted.

To attract the local and foreign visitors, tourism businesses need to be extended to Thailand, China and Russia. Welcome Russia Myanmar Tourism projects has been implementing by the Ministry of Hotels and Touris and the Magway Region Government will also coordinate with the Ministry for the development of the region. The respective deparmtnets are assigned duties to ensure the safety of the travel destinations and the development of the region. The training courses and discussion related to tourism sector were also conducted in the region for the development of the human resources.

After that, the deputy chairman of regional tourism committee added the need to preserve natural environment and to create pleasant and clean environment to attract the visitors, to conduct language, tourist guide and hotel service training courses to attract visitors from China and Russia, to develop community-based tourism, to hold MSME talk show, knowledge sharing sessions and exhibitions and competitions.

 Later, the secretary of regional tourism committee and director of the department of Hotels and Tourism clarified the work decisions made at the meeting 2/2022 and the implementation process of the development of the tourism sector in Magway Region. Officials then reported sector-wise implementation on which the Region Chief Minister coordinated the needs.
