Regional Development : Kalay–Tamu & Kalewa–Yagyi–Monywa roads reopened

The Kalay–Tamu and Kalewa–Yagyi–Monywa road corridors have been reopened after security forces regained control of the routes, which had previously been controlled and blocked by armed groups.

The roads are key transport links for the India–Myanmar–Thailand Trilateral Highway and they play an important role in cross-border trade, transportation and regional connectivity. The reopening of these roads will allow the flow of goods and passengers to resume, improve border trade with India, and support regional economic development.

Repairs to damaged roads, bridges and public infrastructure are underway and reconstruction and demining efforts will continue to facilitate the return of local residents. The security operations in the area will continue to maintain stability and ensure safe travel along the reopened routes.
