Recognition for Success : Six new medicines successfully developed

A ceremony was held on Thursday at a research department in Insein Township, Yangon Region, to honor the successful research and testing of six new medicines.

Union Minister for Industry and MSME Development Dr. Charlie Than attended the ceremony, and made a speech. The Union Minister said Myanmar Pharmaceutical Industry gives priority to the efficacy, quality and safety of medicines.

The six newly developed medicines include two diabetes medicines, one HIV medicine, one medicine for bone and joint diseases, one cancer medicine and one anesthetic. The research department has successfully developed 66 types of medicines since 1982. The latest medicines have also been transferred to local pharmaceutical factories for domestic production, helping reduce reliance on imported medicines.
