"The rapist is you" - Argentine women galvanise for legalised abortion

in downtown Buenos Aires, hundreds of women gathered on Wednesday to protest with green handkerchiefs in favour of the legalization of abortion in Argentina.

The waving of green handkerchiefs was accompanied by defiant chanting by women to an anti-rape chant. In August 2018, Argentine senators rejected a bill to legalize abortion, pushing back against a ground swell of support from a surging abortion rights movement. Current Argentine law only permits abortions in cases of rape, or if the mother's health is at risk. There are at least 350,000 illegal abortions in Argentina every year, the Ministry of Health said.
