Quality Bee Products: Honey, bee product capsules & medicaments

Myanmar annually exports about 4000 tonnes of honey to abroad and about 2000 tonnes of honey is used yearly for the domestic consumption.

The bee product factory of the Apiculture Development Division under the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department is producing quality bee products for local and abroad.

Aung Myint Oo, Factory Manager, Apiculture Development Division said “The factory operated trial run in manufacturing of bee products in 1986. It had already operated joint venture with pharmaceutical companies such as AA Medical Products and Fames medical products in 1991. Since 2006-2007, the bee products have been produced until now.”

The factory manager said they use processing honey in producing bee products and they don’t use preservative chemicals. The factory produces about 20 kind of high quality bee products.

Aung Myint Oo, Factory Manager, Apiculture Development Division said “We produce 13 kind of medical honey including noni honey, ginseng honey, tinospora honey. As the capsule, we produce bee pollen capsule, bee milk capsule, bee royal jelly capsule and so on. For the medicament, the bee propolis wax cream and bee venom lingzhi cream are produced.”

The factory is exporting annually about 20 tonnes of noni honey to Korea. In local, the bee products are being distributed through cooperative associations. In the future, It is planning to have high quality packaging system and to produce plum, tamarind, lychee and grapefruit juice as the new items.
