Qtar says no direct US-Iran talks planned in Doha

Qatar has said no high-level meetings or direct talks between the United States and Iran are scheduled in Doha, despite earlier indications from Washington that a senior US delegation was heading to the Gulf state for negotiations.

Qatari foreign ministry spokesperson said US envoys are in Doha for meetings with Qatari mediators and to discuss a range of regional issues, including Iran, Lebanon and other matters, rather than for direct negotiations with Iranian officials. The Qatari foreign ministry also said that while technical-level US and Iranian delegations have been meeting separately, no direct meetings between the two sides are currently planned.
