Providing relief funds: MoSWRR UM attended and provided relief funds

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win, on May 12, attended and delivered a speech at a relief aid ceremony for persons with disabilities affected by the Mandalay earthquake, held at the meeting hall of the Rehabilitation Department in Nay Pyi Taw.

In his address, Union Minister Dr. Soe Win stated that the Rehabilitation Department has formed a Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Natural Disasters and Emergencies. He mentioned that the department is currently drafting "Disaster Risk Management and Emergency Response Guidelines for Persons with Disabilities" to enhance preparedness, effective response, and recovery efforts before, during, and after disasters tailored to the different types of disabilities.

He emphasized that the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement is prioritizing inclusive disaster resilience, ensuring that persons with disabilities can actively participate in disaster response and recovery. He called for collaboration from all stakeholders to support these efforts.  

Following this, the Union Minister personally distributed relief funds to representatives of persons with disabilities from Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory who were affected by the earthquake. It was also reported that similar aid has been provided to persons with disabilities in other affected states and regions.
