





Due to the Mandalay earthquake that occurred on March 28, a support fund donation ceremony was held at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement in Nay Pyi Taw on May 7.
The event was organized to provide assistance to deceased and injured staff members and their families, as well as families of staff affected by structural damage to their housing. During the ceremony, the Union Minister delivered a speech of encouragement. Support was provided for the families of deceased and injured staff members, and 22 households of staff whose housing was damaged.
Union Minister Dr. Soe Win, together with donors, contributed a total of 32.3 million kyats, 17 types of household items, and the foldable mosquito nets. Additionally, for 15 children of staff members who will be retaking the matriculation exam, 500,000 kyats each was provided in support. In total, the Union Minister donated 39.8 million kyats along with 17 types of relief items to staff members from the ministry office and three departments.
To support the needs and reconstruction efforts for the government staff affected by the Mandalay earthquake, TZU CHI Charity Foundation also donated 20 million kyats, 920 bags of rice, and 920 bottles of cooking oil to the Department of Disaster Management under the Ministry. Union Minister Dr. Soe Win accepted the donations, expressed words of gratitude, and presented a certificate of honor in return.
