Providing Assistance: Social Welfare Tasks inspected in Kalaw and Pindaya

The Department of Disaster Management under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement provided cash assistance to the beneficiaries in Kalaw Township on 23rd February.

Union Minister Dr Thet Thet Khaing provided over 4.5 million kyats through Kalaw Township Administrative Council. The Union Minister and officials later visited Danu Self-Administered Zone Administrative Council Office and explained the work undertakings of the Ministry including social pension and maternal and child cash transfer (MCCT) program.

The Union Minister also discussed for timely completing of Pindaya Township Disaster Management Department Office, being constructed by Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund for 2021. The Union Minister and party also provided over 17.9 million kyats cash assistance for 1,875 people from 428 households, who were affected by falling of hails on 5th February.

The Disaster Management Department also provided over 1.6 million kyats. The Union Minister and party later visited the construction site of Pindaya Township Disaster Management Department Office and heard reports on progress of construction works. They then proceeded to the Kindergarten in Pindaya and discussed the plans to provide assistance for maintenance works.

On arrival at the Rehabilitation Camp (NamtLatt)  in Taunggyi, officials reported on work implementations during the mini-budget period, and the chosen site for youth development training school. The Union Minister and party later inspected the construction progress of staff housing, hostel, office building and mess hall. The Union Minister also instructed to conduct rehabilitation training and to review the training syllabus based on the practical application of the trainees.
