During Covid-19 period, Hpa-An Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Centre is implementing prosthetics repairing processes in line with the instructions of the Ministry of Health and Sports.

The centre is putting on the prosthetic legs and arms to the disabled who can go and back within a day for treatment and who are needed to repair without fail.

Manager, Hpa-An Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Centre, Chaw Thida Aung said "At the centre, we produce artificial limbs, wheelchairs, crutches and so on. We also conduct Summer Prosthetics Repairing Plan at the five designated areas such as Kayin and Mon States, Thaninthayi Region, Bago East District and Kayah State. Due to the restrictions for Covid-19, we didn’t conduct the summer plan. But, to help front line workers who are giving health care services during this period, we produce PPEs, close masks, face shields, surgical gowns for them with the support of International Committee of the Red Cross and the guidance of Myanmar Red Cross Society.

Due to some restrictions for COVID-19 disease in the country, Hpa-An Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Centre is now accepting only out-patients with systematic arrangements.

Prosthetist, Saw Naing Naing Eae said "Normally, we have in-patients and out-patients. We have 55 beds for in-patients and we arrange food and accommodation for them till the end of treatment. But now, we can’t allow in-patients according to the instructions of MOHS. And we accept only out-patients who receive treatment within a day."

Since 2013, Hpa-An Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Centre has produced over 10,000 prosthetic legs for 7900 patients till now.
